Turn your next bite of chocolate into a moment of peace and pleasure. This mindful eating practice helps shift guilt into joy—one bite at a time.
No more ‘guilty pleasure!’
When you incorporate mindful eating into your everyday life, food becomes more satisfying, less overwhelming, and far more joyful. The tendency to overeat lessens—not through restriction, but through presence. Instead of guilt, you experience peace and pleasure with every bite.
This short, sensory meditation is one I love guiding people through (especially with chocolate, but you can use it with anything). It’s simple, but incredibly powerful.
Try this the next time you eat chocolate (or anything else):
-
Pause, and take a good look at what you’re about to eat. Notice the color, the texture, the way it sits in your hand.
-
Inhale its scent, and notice your body's response. Does your mouth water? Does your breath change?
-
Take a bite and be fully present to all the layers of flavor, the texture, the way it feels as it melts or crunches.
Then take a moment and reflect:
How did that feel? What changed?
You can watch my full video here for a guided version of the practice:
This is mindfulness at its most delicious.
